Rotterdam, 10 November 2020 – His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands has granted Den Hartogh Logistics the ‘Royal’ predicate yesterday. This honourable designation is the reward for Den Hartogh’s work as a leading logistics service provider for the chemical, gas, polymer and food industry and marks our 100th Anniversary.

The Royal Family in the Netherlands has always been close to the development of the country and in particular of the economic development. For that reason the Dutch king rewards companies that are a 100 years of age or more with a special predicate giving the company the possibility to title themselves as ‘Royal’. This predicate is not being awarded in all cases; only 45% of the companies get it since the reputation of the company and its management and shareholders must be impeccable.

The predicate ‘Royal’ was introduced in the year 1807 by the first king of the Netherlands, Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. The king can award any company, association or institution the right to use ‘Royal’ in their name. To be eligible, an organisation must hold a highly prominent position within its field, be of national importance and have an existence for at least a hundred years. The size of the company, its operational management, its workforce and its revenue are all taken into account. The King himself is the only formal institute authorised to confer the designation.

1807年，荷兰第一位国王路易·拿破仑·波拿巴（LouisNapoleonBonaparte）引入了“皇家”一词。国王可以授予任何公司、协会或机构以其名义使用“皇家”的权利。一个组织要想获得资格，就必须在其领域内占据重要地位，具有国家重要性，并且至少存在一百年。公司的规模、运营管理、员工队伍和收入都被考虑在内。国王本人是唯一被授权授予这一称号的正式机构。
